Roadmap

DAY 1: PARIS - AUXERRE

Drive of approximately 1h50′ from Paris to Auxerre. Accommodation for 2 nights with breakfast.

DAY 2 AUXERRE - NOYERS-SUR-SEREIN - CHABLIS - AUXERRE

Free day to explore the charming city of Auxerre on your own. Rich in medieval heritage, Auxerre is a charming city with winding streets, a rich historical and artistic heritage and beautiful views of the River Yonne and the Canal du Nivernais. Other points of interest are the historic districts and the Benedictine abbey Saint-Germain (5th century).

Continue to the village of Noyers-sur-Serein (about 30 minutes by car), a medieval gem listed among the "Most charming villages in France" for its typical houses, picturesque squares and historic atmosphere.

Before returning to the hotel in Auxerre, you can visit the renowned vineyards of Chablis, a region with unique soil.

DAY 3 AUXERRE - VÉZELAY - MARMAGNE - DIJON

Breakfast at the hotel and a 45-minute drive to the UNESCO-listed village of Vézelay. The hill of Vézelay, symbol par excellence of pilgrimage, was a meeting point for the Crusades and those who ventured to Santiago de Compostela. The Sainte-Madeleine basilica is a recommended visit.

It's about an hour's drive to Marmagne, where you'll find the UNESCO-listed Abbey of Fontenay. Founded in 1118 and in an excellent state of preservation, it offers a perfect image of what a Cistercian abbey was like.

Continue your journey to Dijon, a 1h10 drive. On arrival, accommodation for 2 nights with breakfast. Dijon was the seat of the famous Dukes of Burgundy (also a UNESCO heritage site) and has a beautiful medieval center.

DAY 4: DIJON

Free day.

Suggested optional activity (not included):

  • Visit the Palace of the Dukes with a rich collection of medieval and Renaissance art; the beautiful Cathedral; the Philippe le Bon Tower, with beautiful views of the city; and the stores with typical gastronomic products from the region, such as pain d'épices Mulot & Petitjean, cassis liqueur, Dijon mustard and, of course, the famous Burgundy wines.

DAY 5: DIJON - CÔTE DE NUITS - BEAUNE

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the northern wine region (Côte de Nuits), located between Dijon and Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Suggested optional activities (not included):

  • Visit the L'Imaginarium museum, which tells you all about the famous Burgundy sparkling wine, and the traditional cassis liqueur factory in Cassissium (museum and tasting).
  • For lovers of gastronomy, truffle hunting in Burgundy with hunting dogs and a tasting at the end of the activity (at the truffle producer L'Or des Valois).

DAY 6: BEAUNE

In the beautiful UNESCO-listed center of Beaune, you can visit the Moutarderie Fallot, the traditional Dijon mustard factory, cellars with tastings of the world's finest wines (such as the Patriarche cellar with 5 km of cellar corridors) and finish with the former Catholic Hospital of the Dukes of Burgundy (Hospices de Beaune).
