This route starts in the famous vineyards of Saint Emilion, in the Bordeaux region. Cycling through the vineyards we will reach the beautiful Perigord region, land of frois gras and black truffles.
The Dordogne Valley, with its beautiful castles, still preserves untouched prehistoric caves, castles and villages from the troubled period of the 100 Years' War, in which it was the center of the battles.
Roadmap
Day 1: Transfer from Bordeaux Airport to Saint Emilion
The walled town of Saint Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, developed in the 8th century, when a monk called Emilion settled there and became famous for the miracles he was credited with.
Day 2: Tour of Saint Emilion's famous vineyards
A 30km loop through the slopes and hills of Saint Emilion, passing the region's most famous wineries, such as Chateau Cheval Blanc and Chateau Petrus. After lunch, we'll visit the incredible catacombs and underground church of Saint Emilion and, in the late afternoon, visit another winery.
Day 3: Move to Les Eyzies et Taynac
We'll leave the hotel in the direction of the center of the Perigord, where we'll start our Saint Cpraise de Lalinde pedal to Lez Eyzies, in the heart of the Perigord. It will be 42km along the banks of the River Dordogne. Accommodation in Les Eyzies.
Day 4: A return to prehistory
A 35 km drive along the strict roads that cut through the region's forests and connect the famous prehistoric caves. Visit to the cave of La Roque St. Christophe.
Day 5: Valley of the Castles and Sarlat
A long pedaling day, 50 km. But one of the most beautiful of the trip! We'll pass through forgotten farming villages and the spectacular towns of La Roque Gageac, Vitrac and Monfort, until we reach Sarlat.
Day 6: Tour of the Lot and Rocamadour
Visit to the Padirac cave, a true masterpiece of nature more than 100 meters underground. Lunch in L'Hospitalet, overlooking the village of Rocamadour and return to our hotel. Approximately 37 km.
Day 7: Breakfast and farewell
After breakfast, transfer to Toulouse Airport.
